Independence Day Around the Lake

The 4th of July around Lake LBJ this year was so much fun. There were so many things to do - activities at the resort, Main Street in Marble Falls, AquaBoom in Kingsland -not to mention that, as you would expect, the lake was teaming with activity. There was an energy, a buzz, around the area that hasn't been here for a while.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that there are a lot of activities to do in the area. This weekend was no different with seemingly every place booming. I called Perissos Winery on Sunday to see if they were open and, even with some dicey weather, they were slammed. Just as an aside, Perissos is a terrific winery located in Hoover's Valley just north of Kingsland on Park Road 4. We have been several times and, even if you're not a wine drinker, I highly recommend stopping by just to see the grounds and visit with the staff. It's a beautiful spot.

Perrisos wasn't the only place buzzing, Main Street in Marble Falls on Saturday was full of people. Restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and specialty stores all seemed busy.  Marble Falls has done such a great job in the past few years of improving Main Street with the addition of clean public restrooms, musical chimes, added stores, and renovated storefronts. If you haven't been in a few years, it is worth another visit.

Lastly, the area is so family friendly. My daughter had a friend up for the weekend and we had no trouble finding things to do. The resort is always worth a visit - they had s'mores each night, movie nights, concerts, a golf cart parade, and a great fireworks display to wrap things up on the 4th.

So, in short, there was something for everyone! The next big holiday weekend is Labor Day and I would not wait to make reservations. Of course, if you decide to buy in the area, you won't really need reservations except perhaps for dinner...or a boat!

Have a great week!
